St. Boswells LIVE & The Return of The 200

Hi folks,

Got a couple of appearances in January for you. First up we’re back at The Jazz Bar on Friday 19th January on the eve of The Return of The 200. On the 20th myself and singer-songwriters Rossco Galloway and Tica Douglas, as well as a host of other great musicians from across the globe, will be endeavouring to play 200 songs each, simultaneously, in continuous performance, on the same day, fully live streamed, for charity. You can find out about the event and the charity by following the link below:

Then on 27th January, we’re taking the borders by storm and playing a special couple of sets at ST. BOSWELLS LIVE, a very cool little venture by some local guys who really dig good music. Come along if you’re in the neighbourhood. Again, we’ll be showcasing some MORE brand new material that we’re working up in rehearsals this week.

See you soon St. Boswells!!

The Katet Christmas Special

We’re in the rehearsal room again this week to put together a bunch of brand new tunes for you fine folk. Merry Christmas and your welcome!

Come down and catch their debut performance as we begin the epic story of our next recording campaign…

Catch you at The Jazz Bar folks x

The Making Of Balloon

It’s been exactly a year since we went into The Slate Room to record, mix, master and release Balloon, complete with full string section. All in a single day. In combination with Katet guitarist, Jed Potts and the Blue Christmas crowd, we managed to raise over £1,300 for Edinburgh homeless Charity, Streetwork.

Streetwork have a very hands on approach to helping and enabling those living on Edinburgh’s streets and are all the more valued at this time of year.

So to commemorate all the great work and the support from our donors, here’s a short documentary of the making of Balloon. Enjoy!

Live Album Launch

Katet Plays Stevie wonder

Firstly, a big thanks to everyone who came out during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to catch The Katet Plays Stevie Wonder. We had another very successful ‘Sold Out’ run of 7 nights. We’re hoping for more of the same next year so please watch this space for previews and updates on the show’s progress.

Live Album Release

Our next release is out at the end of this month. We had so much fun editing and mixing the recording of ‘Guillotine Live@Summerhall’ that we decided to release it as a live album complete with full video.

We’re launching this new release at The Jazz Bar, Edinburgh, on Friday 29th September. This will be our first gig playing original music since the album was launched in Oct 2016. We’re all super excited to be getting into this material again and we hope you’ll come join us for the fun.

Upside Down Boy EP

This month we’ve been busy in The Slate Room Studio putting together our new ‘Upside Down Boy EP’ with Garry Boyle. The songs are coming together very nicely and we can’t wait to share the results. Upside Down Boy reflects on a near disastrous traffic accident Mike was involved in in Jan 2015 – its dark and its epic. This EP will be available in early 2018.

The Katet Plays Stevie Wonder @ Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Well the Fringe is here at last. On Wednesday 9th Aug we hit the Jazz Bar for the first of 7 performances of our sell-out show, ‘The Katet Plays Stevie Wonder’. We’re taking a whole bunch of Stevie’s classics and a few obscure beauties and rearranging them into one monster show. We had a blast on Wednesday night and the run promises to be tons of fun.

We can see already that many of you have bought your tickets already. They’re selling fast folks and we don’t want any friends or family to miss out so if you’ve got your heart set on a particular date, get those tickets booked via the link below:

The rest of the shows are on at midnight on the following dates:

After our Fringe run we’re back in the studio in September to finish our next release, the ‘Upside Down Boy EP’ so stay tuned for updates and teasers!

The Katet plays Stevie Wonder 2017

We’re pleased to announce that we’re back at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the third year in a row with our sell-out show, The Katet plays Stevie Wonder. The show is a tribute to one of our greatest influences and brings us back to our spiritual home, Edinburgh’s now infamous Jazz Bar. After two sell-out runs we’ve added a few performances this year so no one misses out.

Guillotine Album Launch – Live@Summerhall

Congratulations everybody! The Katet’s launch of Guillotine at Summerhall on October 9th was a complete success. Thanks to everyone who came, everyone who played, filmed, recorded, engineered, bought albums, bought T-shirts, made T-shirts, designed artwork, manned the stalls, took photos… etc. etc. What a massive operation. We couldn’t have pulled it off without you. Here’s a little look into what we got up to. This is the last song of the night(minus the encore) and the last track on the new album.
